Sorry, but not a lot in this issue as was kind of rushed.
Editorial
Well have you ever had that itching feeling that you just want to get something done?
And there is something holding you back that just wont let you do it?
Well if so, then you know exactly how I feel at the moment.
In the corner of the lounge room is a 610lt glass tank sitting on top of a baltic pine stained stand.
It is an impressive and imposing feature of the room.
There is just one problem,... its empty, full of air.
As much as I would like to have it on the way, I can't yet.
I'm going to have to wait about another three weeks, until the 24th of February.
And there is no backing out, the deposit is paid, and the delivery date is set :).
The reason being for the delay is the Caretaker is leaving for 3 weeks to go on a working holiday, more money for the reef ;), then a couple of days off to relax.
And it just would not be a good idea to have a cycling tank, with uncured rock mind you, left to its own devices.
I shudder to think of the condition it would be when I returned.
But thats just the way things go, it WILL be worth the wait and I am very happy with the way things are turning out ;).
You may have noticed that I have changed a lot of the format of OZ REEF Marine Park, mainly the introduction of frames.
This, I think, has improved the ability to navigate around the site, making things easier to find and improved the overall appearance.
There has also been an alteration in the colours and format used to make it more appealing.
It seems that this has worked, as no complants have been received ;).
My theory is that if someone emails you about your site, then it is because there is something majorly wrong with something.
Otherwise people just do not take the time to email you.
Going by this there is no problems ;).
The importers are still to get in some stock so that I can start on the calcium reactor.
I can tell you though, that Tom H has his up and running and is already noticing some positive effects.
Keep an eye out for details in his weekly log, I'm sure he'll be sharing his success with all of use shortly.
What you can look forward to coming up soon on OZ REEF Marine Park is photos of the tank construction, the finished product and even some of it filled.
I'm also planning to work on the residents directory and get that up and running.
This will include a bit of a family tree of all corals, and may be even fish.
You'll be able to check out who is the cousin of your favorite animal ;)
I'm out of here, so I'll catch you all at the end of the month.
With a tank full of rock and water of course ;).
Sorry but during this time this site will be rather stagnant, if only it could change stuff by itself.
And by the way, if anyone has something that they would like to contribute to OZ REEF Press, then drop me a line.
I'm after articles that are a bit different, i.e. in the style or on a subject that isn't really covered yet on the WWW.
Welcome OZ REEF's New Residents
Since last months posting of the proposed residents a couple of alterations have been made, but it is still basically the same.
Now the list is located in the Residents Directory.
If you hang in there, that page will have a list of all the common families of corals, names, and relationship to others.
As residents are added, details will be added about that particular species, light intensity, water motion, feeding etc prefered.
Resident of the Month
Hang in there, next month you wont have to read something that is really lacking in information.
I'll be filling you in on the first resident that I see in the tank.
I hope its not a bristle worm, but even then at least its something that is alive.
Dear Marther ReefKeeper
Beginning to wonder if Marther can do anything other than holiday.
Lucky woman ;).
Tom's Bit
by Thomas S. Heo.
Sorry to disappoint you, but there is no Tom's Bit this month.
Writer's block and time have caused this omission ;).
He'll be back next month bigger and better, don't you worry about that.
Special Feature
There are several in the pipline, but they are yet to come out the other end.
Time restriction has also gone against us here.
You Wouldn't Believe It!
.... everything does fall into place.
No matter how much of a mess everything seems, just have to keep at it and it fits together perfectly.
Bereavement Notices
Well, I don't think I have to say that samething for the four month running, you get the idea. Powered by AkoComment! |
