Can I install the calcium reactor inline with the return line? |

Yes, it can be in the manner shown in the figure below. There is a bit but there though, since the exit side of the calcium reactor is connected to the return line, it will be under pressure. And most commercially available calcium reactors are not designed to be under pressure like that. The outlet is typically open to the air and the units are not under any significant pressure. So this way is not recommended, unless the calcium reactor has been designed to handled the pressure.

A valve is required in parallel with the calcium reactor to ensure and control coarsely the water flow. Finer flow control is achived by the gate valve before the calcium reactor.
The more standard way of installing a calcium reactor is as in the above diagram, but the outlet from the calcium reactor either drains back into the sump or the main display tank.
